This is one of those desserts you can always count on being a hit with the crowd you are serving. Making this apple crisp is the result of needing to make something from all the apples we picked from the tree at the cabin. (See earlier post Apple(s) of My Eye). Somehow, served warm seems best with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It’s a simple recipe with few ingredients and oh so good.
Ingredients
- 6 cooking apples
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 Tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Topping Ingredients
- 1/3 cup butter melted
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
Servings:
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°. Line bottom of a greased 9x9" pan or a large pie plate with peeled, sliced apples.
- Mix 3/4 cup sugar with 1 Tablespoon flour. Mix into apples. Top with cinnamon.
- Mix melted butter, brown sugar and remaining flour into a dry crumble and top apples.
- Bake 45 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
